Knocked-out permanent teeth (especially in children)

Hold the tooth by its upper part, the crown, and avoid touching the root. The tooth may be rinsed, but do not handle or clean it unnecessarily. Try to put the tooth back into its socket. For a child, keep it in position by asking them to bite on a clean piece of cloth or gauze. If you cannot put the tooth back, transport it to the dentist in a small container of water or milk, immediately. Time is the most important factor in saving the tooth: after one hour, its chances of survival are much lower.
