Cosmetic treatments – a DaviDent speciality!

 

•  Tartar removal (scaling):
This is primarily a preventive treatment, but it also improves the appearance of your teeth. It is carried out using an ultrasonic scaler. In some cases, special hand instruments are also used to clean below the gum line.

 

•  Polishing:
Polishing removes surface stains, leaving your teeth smooth and shiny. I usually carry it out as the final stage of scaling.

 

•  Tooth-coloured fillings:
I use light-cured composite filling materials, selecting the most suitable shade and quality. I aim to recreate each tooth’s individual shape, character and translucency, restoring its original appearance.

 

•  Inlays and onlays:

An inlay restores a tooth when a relatively large amount of tooth structure is missing. It is made by a dental technician from an impression I take, and bonded into the cavity. In some cases, this avoids the need for a crown. An onlay differs from an inlay in that it also covers the entire chewing surface, helping protect the tooth against fracture, for example after root canal treatment. Inlays and onlays can be made from gold, porcelain or a special ceramic-reinforced resin.

 

•  Porcelain veneers:

Veneers improve the appearance of the front teeth. They can correct irregular shapes, gaps or crowding and conceal discolouration. Preparing a tooth for a porcelain veneer requires only minimal reduction, as the veneer is essentially as thin as a contact lens. The veneer is made by a dental technician and then bonded into place at the practice using a special adhesive.

 

•  Metal-free porcelain crowns:
As well as conventional metal-ceramic restorations, crowns and bridges can be made entirely from porcelain or from porcelain on a zirconia framework. These offer excellent aesthetics and a natural appearance, while avoiding metal allergies.

•  Tooth jewellery:

Tooth jewellery is usually placed on an upper lateral incisor. I attach it to the tooth using a special composite adhesive, so no drilling is needed. I can remove the jewellery easily without damaging the tooth. The tooth jewellery I use is made from biocompatible materials that are not harmful to health.
